About Council

Applying for a Position

Customer Service Officer at desk

Central Coast Council is an equal employment opportunity (EEO) employer and values the diversity of its workforce.

It is council policy to select the best applicant for each vacant position on the basis of job related selection criteria. An individual’s race, sex, age, disability, marital status, sexual preference or membership of an ethnic or minority group will not reduce their chances of employment.

Applicants with a disability are encouraged to apply for vacant positions. Should you have any special needs during the recruitment process please contact the enquiries person listed in the job advertisement to discuss and arrange, or alternatively contact People and Culture on (02) 4325 8368.

Council is committed to:

  • Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Principles;
  • Work Health & Safety (WHS) & Environmental Management Principles;
  • Ethical practices; and
  • Smoke free work environment.

It is preferred that prospective applicants have an understanding of and shared commitment to these principles.

The following information will help you to understand our selection processes and to prepare your application.

Preparing your application

Before you apply for a position, please read the position information carefully to assess your eligibility and suitability for the position. The position description can be downloaded from the job advertisement.

You will then be required to answer a few questions, based on the selection criteria, via the online application form. We recommend typing and saving your answers into a Word document for ease of reviewing before finalising your responses online. You can then cut and paste your answers into the application form.

Once you have completed the online application form, attach your resume (CV) which should include information on your qualifications, employment history, skills and experience along with contact details of two (2) referees. Once uploaded, you have successfully submitted your application.

Closing date

All applications must be received before the advertised closing date and time. Late applications may be accepted at the discretion of the panel convenor, only where extenuating circumstances exist.

Acknowledgement of applications

Once your application has been received you will receive notification via email. If you are successful in gaining an interview you will be informed via email or telephone, usually within four weeks of the advertised closing date.
