Council is responsible for more than 480 hectares of ‘passive’ open space. This total area is comprised of approximately 380 parcels of community parks, foreshore parks or formal parks.
These parks are generally used for informal recreation activities and can include areas with playgrounds, picnic facilities and amenities.
In addition, council cares, controls, managers or is appointed Trustee for extensive tracts of Crown foreshore reserves that fringe Brisbane Water.
