Disability Action Plan

Gosford City Council's Disability Action plan 2008 - 2012 is now available.

People with disabilities face many barriers in their daily lives – barriers that limit their participation in community life. Many of these barriers are created through the design of the environment in which we live, and the attitudes we have to disability; barriers that are disabling.

The Disability Action Plan is Gosford City Council’s response to reducing the barriers people with disabilities face; and is based upon the Disability Discrimination Act of 1992. This Disability Action Plan is a continuation of the Disability Action Plan developed by a Sunset Committee in 1996.

Gosford City Council remains committed to ensuring that everyone in our community is given fair and equitable access to our services and facilities, in order to ensure full and equal access to the life in our community.

The Disability Action Plan has many benefits to the whole community, as good planning and design will ensure inclusiveness for everyone, as well as demonstrate visually our commitment to the reduction of the barriers that serve to exclude some people from accessing all of the services and facilities available in our community.
