Dealing with Neighbourhood Issues

Dealing with issues in your neighbourhood

Before taking formal steps to report a neighbourhood issue, council recommends that you attempt to contact your neighbours to discuss the problem and reach an appropriate resolution.

However, it is not recommended that you approach your neighbour if there is a concern that they may become hostile.

Common issues people have with their neighbours include:

One of the most common issues concerning neighbours is noise. The Dealing with Neighbourhood Noise page on the NSW Environment Protection Agency (EPA) website provides useful information regarding common neighbourhood noise issues.

Neighbourhood Watch

There are a number of Neighbourhood Watch meetings in our area, where community members come together to discuss issues from their suburb, and work with local enforcement bodies to reduce crime and build safer, more secure communities across Brisbane Water.

Brisbane Water LAC also hold Coordinator Meetings at the Police Station with representatives from local Progress Associations or Neighbourhood Watch groups, and Community Safety Precinct Committee meetings twice per year, for government and non-government organisations, as well as community members.

At both meetings, issues raised from the community are discussed, and attempts at resolutions made.
