The Central Coast Community Congress is an ongoing partnership between Gosford and Wyong Councils, various State Government agencies, the Central Coast Community Council, Central Coast Neighbourhood and Community Centres Forum, the Benevolent Society and various community members to strengthen and nurture communities on the Central Coast.
The Community Congress working party is involved in many projects aimed at building healthy communities across the Central Coast.
Along with projects the Congress Working Party organises a bi-annual Community Conference and the annual Central Coast Community Congress 'Real people Doing Real Things' Awards.

2012 Central Coast Community Building Awards - 'Real People Doing Real Things'
Since their inception in 2006 the Central Coast Community Building Awards have grown to be one of our premier awards events. They provide an opportunity to showcase the invaluable role volunteers, community workers and organisations play in the growth of vibrant, innovative and inclusive communities across the Central Coast.
Recognition through these prestigious awards includes:

motivation and inspiration for people to get involved in volunteering

encouragement of innovative practice

opportunities to develop and strengthen partnerships

increasing social inclusion

encouragement of intergenerational interaction

a chance to showcase often overlooked local neighbourhood achievements
The awards are supported by Gosford City and Wyong Shire Councils as well as Regional Development Australia Central Coast, Central Coast Community Council and major Non-Government Organisations operating in the community services sector.
The award ceremonies alternate between the Gosford & Wyong local government areas. The categories for the 2012 Awards are:
· Individual in Voluntary Capacity – Wyong Shire
· Individual in Voluntary Capacity – Gosford City
· Individual in Paid Capacity
· Young Person Age 12 - 25 years
· Voluntary Group/Organisation, Not for Profit Organisation
· Project within Government Organisation
· Project within a Business or business environment.
· Art & Cultural (program, group or individual)
· Community Partnership Event
· Social Enterprise Innovation
· Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (project)

This years “Real People doing Real Things” Community Building Awards ceremony will be held on 16 August 2012, at the Tony Sheridan Function Room, Wyong Civic Centre with Nominations opening on 21 May and closing on 20 June 2012.
