Taxi Transport Assistance for Disadvantage Groups Living in the Gosford Local Government Area.
What is the Gosford Taxi Access Scheme
The Gosford Taxi Access Scheme is administered by Gosford City Council and Coast Wide Community Transport. The target group, include those living in the Gosford Local Government Area, and who are not eligible for Home & Community Care assistance or other mainstream service regimes. This includes those with severe socio-economic disadvantage and those that are geographically isolated and unable to access public transport to attend essential services.
Eligibility
The following criteria will be used to define people as being transport disadvantaged:
Mobility
- People whose physical health status renders them with a permanent mobility disability that tenders them unable to use mainstream transport. This would include the frail elderly, younger people with disabilities and their carers, who are not Home & Community Care (HACC) eligible.
- People whose physical health status renders them with a temporary mobility disability that renders them unable to use mainstream transport.
- People who are socially isolated due to diagnosed mental illness, behavior difficulties and delayed development.
Isolation
- People who live in villages of less than 500 people which do not have access to mainstream transport.
- People who need to access community facilities and resources, which are not available within the hours when mainstream public transport operates.
Age
- Pre-school aged children traveling with an adult who experiences problems accessing mainstream transport.
- Young people up to the age of 17 years who need to travel more than 1.6km to access community facilities and resources, which are not available within the hours when mainstream public transport operates.
How Much Will You Pay For Travel?
You pay the initial registration fee only of $20.00, which is to be payed after the application form has been processed and only if successful. The payment is to be made out to Gosford City Council.
How to Apply
If you are "transport disadvantaged" meeting the essential criteria, complete the application form and forward it to the Council using one of the following options:
