Gosford City Council - Community Forums Information Page
Council resolved to include a community forum section at Council meetings held on the second Tuesday of the month.
The following procedure will apply:-
- Three (3) speakers, representing themselves or a group, may address Councillors and senior staff for a maximum of five (5) minutes, and questions may be asked by Councillors, if required, at the conclusion of each address.
- The issue to be addressed must either come within Council's jurisdiction or propose that Council make appropriate representations to the relevant authority in support of the issue.
- Resolutions shall not be moved by Councillors during the forum.
- Submissions received to address the forum will be forwarded to the Director – Corporate Services with a ballot to be undertaken should the number exceed three (3).
- Any submission received on behalf of a group should contain the actual meeting resolution passed by the Group and the date of the meeting.
- No person or group will be heard more than once in a three (3) month period, if there are more applications than available time slots.
- Any submission received relating to an issue before Council which is likely to be dealt with in a Confidential session will not be heard by the forum.
- Any submission on resolutions of Council within the preceding three (3) months will not be heard by the forum.
- Any submission on a report before Council or shortly to be brought before Council will be referred to the Public Forum section of the relevant Ordinary meeting.
- Any submission heard by the forum may be placed before the Ordinary meeting only by way of a Notice of Motion.
How to Apply
Community members or groups who wish to take part in a Community Forum are invited to apply in writing by 12 noon on the Monday before the first Tuesday of the month, following the above procedure.
