Poll Declared

The Declaration of the Poll for Gosford City Council was released by the Returning Officer at 2pm on Tuesday, 23 September 2008.

The successful candidates in the Local Government Elections for Gosford City Council in sequence of election are:

  • Jim Macfadyen (Labor)
  • Terri Latella (Greens)
  • Laurie Maher (Central Coast First)
  • Chris Burke (Liberal)
  • Amy Houston (Liberal)
  • Vicki Scott (Labor)

  • Jeff Strickson (Liberal)
  • Peter Freewater (Greens)

There will be an Extraordinary Council Meeting held on Monday, 29 September 2008 commencing at 6pm for the election of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor.

An Ordinary Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday, 7 October 2008 commencing at 6.45pm.

General Information

Local Government Elections are held every four years, with the next Ordinary Election being scheduled for 13 September 2008. How to become a Councillor

Persons interested in standing for Council may download the NSW Department of Local Government booklet entitled Becoming a Councillor (PDF File, 588kb) from this website.

The NSW Electoral Commission is also conducting candidate information seminars at selected locations throughout New South Wales in May and June.

The seminars will cover key topics that prospective candidates will need to have an understanding of prior to nominating for council.

Rolls for Non-Resident Owners, Occupiers and Ratepaying Lessees

Persons wishing to lodge a claim for inclusion in the Roll of Non-Residential Owners of Rateable Land or the Roll of Occupiers and Ratepaying Lessees may download the claim for inclusion form (PDF File, 46.4kb) from this site.

Please be aware that if a claim for enrolment was made for the 2004 Council Elections or subsequently, and you wish to claim enrolment for this election, you must re-apply.

Election Funding Authority

As required by the Local Government and Planning Legislation Amendment (Political Donations) Act 2008, all current donations and expenditure declarations lodged by Councillors with the Election Funding Authority of NSW can be viewed at the following link www.efa.nsw.gov.au.
