The Greenhouse Program is an environmental education program designed for primary schools in the Gosford region.
The program aims to foster a strong understanding of environmental issues and a commitment to positive environmental behaviour within our schools and communities.
Each year a theme is chosen and a resource package is developed centred around one particular environmental issue.
Students and schools are challenged to undertake initiatives within their school and homes that will impact positively on this issue.
Past themes program include: climate change, waste education, biodiversity, stormwater management, catchment protection, recycling, reusing, water education and global warming.
- Greenhouse Program Resource folder;
- Initial school visit and staff meeting;
- Themed Leadership Day – a fun and interactive day of environmental education and leadership skills for senior students of primary schools in Gosford City;
- School judging visit;
- Individual student project judging;
- School creative performance;
- End of year awards ceremony;
In addition to receiving a comprehensive package filled with up to date information, valuable resources and class activities, participating schools and students are encouraged to enter a number of theme based competitions including Environmental School of the Year, individual student projects and creative performances.
The program culminates with the annual presentation of awards ceremony held at the Laycock Street Theatre at the end of the school year.
This is a wonderful event where schools and students are recognised and rewarded for their commitment to creating a stronger and healthier world environment.
