Plastic bags - kick the habit!
Australians use over 4 billion plastic bags per year.
Plastic bags are a serious threat to our environment and natural resources. They fi ll up our landfills and can take between 20 and 1000 years to break down. Million of plastic bags end up as litter on our beaches and streets and in our rivers and parks. They block drains and harm our wildlife and marine animals.
Reducing the number of plastic bags we use will help keep them out of the environment and reduce the amount of resources used to produce them.
What can you do to reduce plastic bag use:
REFUSE - take reusable bags when you go shopping
REDUCE - place as many items as possible into each bag
REUSE - reuse plastic bags for storing items and bin liners.
RECYCLE - find a supermarket near you that has a recycling service.
