World War I Diaries from the State Library of NSW
Tuggerah Library will host Elise Edmonds, from the NSW State Library.
Elise, the State Library's World War I curator, will bring a small selection of diaries and original materials to deliver a talk on the collection and the fascinating stories behind them.
Elise has curated a successful exhibition based on the stories contained in the diaries and will talk about the provenance of the pieces and how the State Library came to be involved in the collaboration.
In 2014 the Library along with the Australian Theatre for Young People (atyp) commissioned playwright Ross Mueller to create a new play based on the extensive World War I diary collection. A Town Named War Boy brings to life the personal accounts of young men that set sail for the far side of the world.
Elise is visiting Tuggerah library as part of the A Town Named War Boy theatrical tour which is playing at The Art House, Wyong, in April. To book tickets at The Art House to see the A Town Named War Boy production click here.
