Gosford Legal Information Access Centre (LIAC)

LIAC provides clients with free information about the law in NSW. We cannot provide legal advice, but we can help you find the answers to common legal questions, such as how to make a will, dealing with problems with neighbours, buying a home, going to court, and family law matters. We can also refer clients to appropriate organisations for further information. Find Legal Answers Tool Kit

The LIAC collection includes the Find Legal Answers Tool Kit (http://www.legalanswers.sl.nsw.gov.au/pdf/toolkit_list.pdf), which consists of approximately 20 books about the law in plain English. It is designed to provide information on commonly asked legal questions. A Legal Tool Kit is available at every branch of the Gosford Library service. Gosford Branch also has a wider range of titles available in its Law Books for Libraries collection.

Hot Topics

Hot topics is a series of short booklets about recent changes and current debates in the law in New South Wales. It is a useful source of information for members of the community who want to understand a particular legal issue or change in the law. As it has been designed to complement the Higher School Certificate syllabus, it is also a helpful resource for students and teachers.

Acts & Regulations

Staff at all branches are happy to assist clients to access Commonwealth and State Acts and Regulations on the Internet.

Legal Searches

Gosford Library Service offers a legal searching service through the Lawpoint online database. Searches available include Land Titles, Dealings Deposited Plans and Strata Plans. Searches available through the Australian Securities Commission database include company, business and personal name searches.

Fees for the service range from $27.50, depending on the number of documents supplied. We offer prompt delivery of search results and in many cases, documents can be supplied in 24 hours.
