What is VeloVision?

On Saturday the 6th of September Gosford City Library, Gosford Council and Vision Australia launched an exciting new project: the VeloVision Tandem Bike Borrowing Scheme.

In 2007, Gosford City Council held a Come 'n Try event called VeloVision. This event gave Central Coast residents who are blind or have low vision the opportunity to learn more about how to get involved in tandem cycling.

The event was an overwhelming success attracting many participants. As a result Gosford City Council and Vision Australia agreed to continue to work together to improve the recreational options available to people who are blind or have low vision in the local area.

Gosford City Library and Vision Australia are proud to announce a new initiative through Woy Woy Library whereby vision impaired riders and nominated Captains are able to freely borrow a tandem bicycle for a two hour ride utilising Gosford City Council's completed cycleways.

From the 6th of September people registered with Vision Australia will be able to book the tandem bike (housed at Woy Woy Library in a bike locker) for up to 2 hours a day.

Scheme Update - May 2009:

After 8 successful months promoting the scheme, Vision Australia and Gosford City Council have decided to open the VeloVison Tandem Bike Borrowing Scheme up to any member of the public wishing to borrow the tandem bike for a ride.

Please contact Woy Woy Library on 4304 7555 or keep reading through the website for updated details and information on how to borrow the bike.
