Day of Action
2008年04月16日 00時00分
The Central Coast Community will lobby against Energy Australia's installation of aboveground high voltage cabling, with the support of Council.
Energy Australia have started installing 19.6km of aboveground, 132 kV power lines through residential areas from Ourimbah to Terrigal. Only two sections at Wamberal will be laid underground.
Community members are seeking to have the powerlines laid entirely underground, thus reducing the potential health risks associated with high voltage powerlines and minimising the environmental destruction to wildlife in the area.
Council supports the bid for underground powerlines and the community's proposal to ensure that all future transmission lines linked to the substation in Terrigal/Wamberal are placed underground.
A day of action is planned for members of the community to attend a non-aggressive, non-violent campaign outside the offices of the Minister for Energy, Ian MacDonald and Minister for the Central Coast, John Della Bosca at the Governor Phillip Tower, Sydney.
The rally will take place on Wednesday, April 23 with a free bus leaving from Gosford Station at 9.30am.
To reserve a seat on the bus and for more information, contact Councillor Terri Latella on 0439 488 037.
