Emergency response exercise at Wondabyne

09-04-2008 12:00 AM

RailCorp is participating in a joint emergency response exercise at Wondabyne on Saturday 12 April.

This is an exercise, not an actual response to a real emergency.

This exercise will bring together relevant representatives from the Gosford Local Emergency Management Committee including NSW Police, Ambulance, Fire Brigades, RailCorp and other agencies.

RailCorp’s General Manager Emergency Preparedness Ron Creighton said exercises such as Exercise Wondabyne were an essential part of RailCorp’s planning for emergency situations.

“The Wondabyne area is a unique, challenging location, with water on one side and the escarpment on the other side of the rail corridor,” Mr Creighton said.

“The exercise will enable RailCorp and the emergency services to work as a team to gain a greater understanding of who can do what and how we can all be better prepared if an emergency occurs.”

Last year RailCorp participated in 13 emergency exercises.
