A number of local families will open their homes next week to young representatives from Gosford’s sister city of Edogawa, Japan.

From 22-31 July, 20 teenage members of Edogawa Youth Wing will reside with host families and attend Narara Valley High School.

During their 10-day stay, they will attend a Mayoral reception in Gosford City Council Chambers at 10am on 23 July. Other activities organised for the students include a visit to the Reptile Park and Edogawa Commemorative Garden, an Aboriginal talk and demonstration at Rumbalara Reserve, a fish 'n' chip lunch at Terrigal, and a weekend with the students' host families at Sydney Zoo.

Mayor of Gosford City, Clr Jim Macfadyen said the visit offers an opportunity for many young people and their families to enjoy the sister city experience.

“The visit greatly benefits young people from Gosford as well as those from Edogawa as they learn about different cultures, build on their language skills and, importantly, make new friends.

“This visit by Edogawa Youth Wing is an example of the valuable exchanges that can take place between sister cities like Gosford and Edogawa.

“By sharing and exchanging our cultures, we are continuing to build on and strengthen our sister city friendship,” Clr Macfadyen said.
