Gosford City Council will begin monitoring valve operation in the Woy Woy Peninsula water supply system tomorrow, Wednesday 21 January, as part of its drinking water quality management program, Water Quality 2010.
The work will begin in Booker Bay, moving through Ettalong to Umina, over a period of 3-5 days, between 9am and 4pm. During this time, Council crews will turn 182 valves on and off to detect leaks and identify assets in need of replacement.
As part of the works, Council will need to intermittently disrupt water supply. Each interruption is expected to take approximately two minutes. Residents may also experience reduced water pressure and discoloured water for the duration of the works.
Council advises residents to check water colour prior to washing clothing during this period. Where laundering cannot be avoided and discolouration occurs, residents are advised to call Council on 4325 8222.
Regular updates of current and upcoming works are posted on the Water Quality 2010 page of Council's website: www.gosford.nsw.gov.au.
Water Quality 2010 is designed to protect, manage and maintain the quality of the region's drinking water supply. It incorporates a suite of activities under a 5-point plan including capital works, maintenance activities, monitoring and analysis programs, and changes to system management and operation.
Water Quality 2010 is Gosford City Council's multi-million dollar drinking water quality management program, assisted by a $4.5 million contribution from the Australian Government's Water for the Future - Water Smart Australia program
