Grandma Moses exhibition - entries open

17. 07. 2009 00:00

Entries are now open for the 2009 Grandma Moses Art Exhibition which will run from 15 - 17 September 2009.

The annual exhibition which is an opportunity for local seniors to demonstrate their artistic talents saw over 160 entries last year, with the majority of works going on sale to the public.

Sponsored by Gosford City Council, the Grandma Moses Art Exhibition this year offers five categories including; open, watercolour, novice, members of the Seniors' Centre art group, and Central Coast inspired.

Entry is $5 for one painting and $8 for two and entry forms must be submitted by Friday 21 August 2009 to Shop 118 at the Gosford Town Centre (opposite Gloria Jeans) or via post to Grandma Moses Art Competition, PO Box 21, Gosford NSW 2250. Entry fee must be included with the entry form.

All artworks must be delivered to Shop 121 at the Gosford Town Centre on Monday 14 September 2009 between 9 and 11am.

The exhibition was named after American artist, Anna Robertson, who took up painting at 78 and continued until a few months before she passed away at the age of 101. At 80, when she held her first one-woman show, the New York Herald coined her "Grandma Moses" and the name later contributed to her success as an artist.

Entry forms are available from Gosford City Council's website at www.gosford.nsw.gov.au
