Living Library and book signing

2009年07月23日 00時00分

On Thursday 6 August 2009, Erina Library will host two prominent events; the Living Library and an author and illustrator book signing.

As a part of Gosford City Council's Local Government Week activities, the Living Library offers borrowers an opportunity to understand the lives of people in their community better.  It is just like a regular library with one difference: in the Living Library the “books” are people.

Commencing at 3pm, artist Amelia, from Where the Wild Things Grow will be one of the all new Living Books featured, demonstrating the ancient art of Henna along with some of her other fascinating creations.

Amelia will be joined by other remarkable Living Book guests, guaranteeing you will have never read books like these before!

At 6pm, author and pro surfer Adrian 'Ace' Buchan and illustrator Anthony Williams will visit Erina Library to sign copies of their new children's book. Macka's Barrel into the Dream Time: a Journey into Magic Realism focuses on surfing and environmental issues affecting Australia.

Anthony's artwork will also be displayed in the Erina Centre foyer (next to Erina Library), accompanied by live music.

Alan Flores, Manager of the Libraries at Gosford City Council, is thrilled to have the two events as part of the week long Local Government Week activities.

"We are excited to have the Living Library return in an all new format with an array of new Living Books to experience.

"We are also very fortunate to have a book signing by both Adrian and Anthony," added Mr Flores.

Erina Library is located in The Hive at Erina Fair. Finger food and refreshments are provided. Bookings for both activities are essential, call 4365 6725.
