The Peninsula Recreation Precinct - a community effort
2009年06月12日 00時00分
Gosford City Council is calling on individuals and organisations within the community to assist with the implementation of the Peninsula Recreation Precinct.
A recent grant of $3 million from the Federal Government saw plans for the precinct come to life and a key component of the funding's application was to have the community involved in the project.
Aptly titled one of the biggest outdoor recreation developments within the Gosford local government area, the precinct is set to provide a variety of recreational opportunities for a broad range of community members.
The precinct will include a new playground with a junior and senior play area, all ages fitness equipment, park furniture (BBQ's, seating, tables, shelters, drinking fountains), outdoor lighting, pathways/cycleways, landscaping and bush regeneration, a Café with public amenities, tennis facility upgrade, Umina clubhouse upgrade, car park upgrade and other landscaping enhancements.
Now that these project components have been finalised, Council would like to invite individuals and organisations within the community to assist with the implementation of the precinct. Potential areas of involvement include:
- Assistance with fundraising for the community financial component of the project
- Assistance with developing a Youth Engagement Strategy (YES)
- Input into the playground equipment (junior equipment in particular)
- Assistance with community art for the site
- Volunteer labour for landscaping (including avenue tree planting, working with bush regenerators and landscaping at tennis courts)
- Ongoing support through the "Friends of Gosford Playground Program"
- Assistance with official opening and promotion of site
- Any other areas you or your organisation may have to assist with project implementation
Deputy Mayor of Gosford City, Clr Craig Doyle said that community feedback was instrumental in the development of the project and would be vital in the realisation of the Peninsula Recreation Precinct.
"It's important that Council continues to work with individuals and community groups to ensure the success of this new and exciting precinct.
"Council also hopes that this community partnership will lead to ongoing active involvement with the project in future years", added Clr Doyle.
