07-09-2009 12:00 AM

Works are now complete on the upgrade of the St Johns Lookout picnic area at Katandra Reserve, Holgate.

The $170,000 upgrade was completed by Gosford City Council and includes; a timber ramp, stairs, decking and a sandstone paved pathway, providing better access from the car parking spaces to the picnic tables, public amenities and lookout.

In addition, the new design and railing extension for the lookout provides a more accessible and safer viewing area.

Mayor of Gosford City, Clr Chris Holstein is pleased with the new additions.

"The St Johns Lookout picnic area is a favoured location among residents and visitors. The enhanced disability access will ensure that all community members can enjoy the picnic area.

"I encourage everyone to visit Katandra Reserve to check it out", said Clr Holstein.

Katandra Reserve is accessible by car through Toomeys and Wattle Tree Road. For further information on Katandra Reserve and other picnic areas and open spaces, visit www.gosford.nsw.gov.au
