Emergency works to repair large water main break in Avoca
06-07-2012 10:05 AM
Gosford City Council crews are working hard this morning to repair a large water main break on Cape Three Points Road, Avoca.
One lane of Cape Three Points Road – in the area between Yodalla Place and The Round Drive – is closed and emergency traffic controls are in place while crews work to repair the break and re-establish the water supply to around 60 properties.
At this stage, it is not yet known when the supply will be returned to these properties.
Council is appealing to the community to avoid the area where possible so repair efforts are not hampered.
One house was damaged internally after water flooded the property and two others suffered some flooding of their front yard, driveway and garage. Crews are working closely with these residents to assess the damage and help with the clean-up.
Investigations into the cause of the main failure will start after the repair works are completed.
Council apologises for any inconvenience and thanks the community for their patience during this period.
