GOSFORD CITY COUNCIL TO HOLD GROUNDWATER INFORMATION DAY FOR PENINSULA RESIDENTSÂ
Residents in the Peninsula area of the Central Coast will find out how construction of the region's largest groundwater borefield at Woy Woy is progressing at an Information Day to be held on Saturday 25 November from 12 Noon to 4pm.
The Gosford City Council Groundwater Information Day will take place in the Auditorium at the Everglades Country Club, Dunban Road, Woy Woy.
The key speakers for the day will be Pam McCann, Manager, Asset Management and Lisle Butler, Groundwater Project Co-ordinator, from Council's Water & Sewer Directorate.
'Groundwater is an important part of the $100 million of capital works Gosford City Council, in partnership with Wyong Shire Council, is spending to secure the Central Coast's water supply,' said Pam McCann.
'That's why it's vital we keep everyone informed about how the two new borefields at Woy Woy and Narara are progressing as well as how groundwater, as an alternative source of town water, fits into our overall drought management plan.
'As part of the Information Day, Lisle and I will present the latest facts and figures around our groundwater projects. We will also answer any questions people may have about the Woy Woy and Narara projects as well as the water situation in general.'
The Central Coast currently receives around 3 million litres a day of groundwater as part of the town water supply from five borefields at Ouimbah, Braithwaite Park, Somersby Water Treatment Plant, Mangrove Weir and Mardi.
With the completion of Woy Woy and Narara this will rise to around 9 million litres a day by April 2007.
The Council's Groundwater Information Day will include displays, fact sheets and lots of other information on what's being done about the water situation, how to save water around the home and how to cope with the current Level 4 Water Restrictions.
Light refreshments will be served between 12 Noon and 1.00pm. The main presentation will commence at 1.00pm.Admission is free. Children are welcome.
Everyone who attends will also receive an updated Groundwater Fact Sheet plus a special 'Save Our Water' goodie bag.
