Water information now at local shopping centres

Water information now at local shopping centres

Gosford and Wyong Councils have launched a series of information displays at local shopping centres as part this week’s National Water Week.

The information displays began yesterday (Tuesday) and will run over the coming month. They are designed to help keep the community informed about the current water situation on the Central Coast, as well as provide details on Councils’ rebate programs and subsidies and advice on how to save water around the home.

Two permanent displays will be on show – one at Erina Fair and one at Westfield Tuggerah.

Two more displays will be rotated around six local shopping centres – Deepwater Plaza, the Imperial Centre and Gosford Town Centre in the south, and Lake Haven, Stockland Bay Village and the Tuggerah SupaCentra in the north.

“We believe it's vital that we provide as much information as possible to the community about the water situation at present,' said Gosford Mayor, Laurie Maher.

“People want to know what is happening to our water supplies, what we are doing to secure our water resources and how they can help save water themselves.

“They also want advice on how they can still maintain their gardens, boats, pools and wash their vehicles under Level 4 water restrictions.”

Wyong Mayor Bob Graham added: “People need to know what help is available in terms of rebates and subsidies to help them save water.

“We are encouraging everyone to use 150 litres of town water per person per day or less and the Councils can offer practical advice and assistance on how to achieve this.

“We also have information about how people can use greywater during the drought and we have produced a new information brochure to help explain this important issue.”
