Labor Councillor, Jim Macfadyen, is the new Mayor of Gosford City, with Liberal Councillor, Trevor Drake, his deputy.
Mayor Macfadyen and Deputy Mayor Drake were elected tonight at an Extraordinary General Meeting of Gosford City Council.
New Labor Mayor of Wyong, Warren Welham, and Labor Member for The Entrance, Grant McBride, were at the meeting.
Mayor Macfadyen said his State Government affiliations would enable him access to Ministers to ensure Gosford City and the Central Coast were "heard in Macquarie Street".
"I want to work with the Federal and State Governments to achieve more local jobs, an improved environment and better infrastructure, such as roads and transport.
"Central Coast residents do not care if jobs and services are provided in Gosford or Wyong as long as they are provided in the region and are accessible.
"I will be working closely with the new Mayor of Wyong, Warren Welham, to pursue appropriate regional strategies."
Mayor Macfadyen said he was passionate about growing Gosford and improving the waterfront to provide a vibrant, attractive centre for new investments and developments providing jobs, arts and culture and a variety of residential accommodation, including affordable housing.
"I will be pursuing with the State Government the finalisation of the Central Coast Regional Strategy, Gosford City Centre Plans, and WaterPlan 2050 -- including the new Mardi to Mangrove Dam link -- which will secure our water supply into the future. "
Mayor Macfadyen was first elected to Council in 2004 along with five other new Councillors -- Trevor Drake, Terri Latella, Peter Hale, Vicki Scott and Laurie Maher.
Councillor Macfadyen said he was pleased that Councillor Trevor Drake would be joining him as Deputy Mayor.
"We work well together as a team," he said.
