Laycock Street Community Theatre

With a reputation as one of Australia’s most successful regional theatres, Laycock Street Community Theatre is committed to enhancing the social and cultural environment of the Central Coast.

The theatre is a strong and supportive base for community performance and engagement, as well as a venue for international shows, bands and touring productions.

Built in 1988 in response to community demand, the theatre is committed to enhancing the social and cultural environment of the Central Coast. It remains a strong and supportive base for community performance and engagement as well as a venue for international shows, bands and touring productions.

The theatre attracts a diverse range of professional and community productions, including an Annual Season of hand-picked, international shows. The venue is a popular choice for professional theatre hire companies and producers. In fact, many seasoned performers, well known both in Australia and internationally, had their early start on the Laycock stage.

The main tiered-seating auditorium seats 396, and is available for hire by theatre and dance companies, community groups, businesses and individuals.

In addition, the Don Craig Room is a multi-purpose space with stage and flexible seating for up to 110. It is an ideal space for intimate concerts, plays, business meetings, parties and corporate presentations. The venue also includes a commercial kitchen, fully licensed bar and kiosk.

Since its opening, the theatre has also proudly been the home to Gosford Musical Society, with both organisations continuing to enjoy a strong and committed partnership founded on mutual community service.
