Do you remember your first theatre experience? The thrill of a live performance, the excitement of the dark auditorium and the anticipation of the curtains being drawn before the show commences.
For young children and school students, a theatre visit can inspire, develop and expand their experiences and understanding. At Laycock Street Community Theatre, we pride ourselves on delivering a challenging and engaging program for young people, which encourages students to connect with live theatre.
Where possible, each performance offers free, downloadable support materials for teachers to enhance the theatre experience and focus on the integration of creative arts back in the classroom. The resource materials are designed to prepare students for the performance and also to link to a broader range of curriculum areas.
A complimentary theatre ticket is provided for teachers accompanying school groups (one ticket for every fifteen students). If that allocation does not allow you to adequately supervise your students, please speak directly with our box office staff, as additional teacher tickets can be purchased at the student price.
Due to constraints in the schedules of national productions, some of shows fall outside standard school hours. We will endeavour to help you find a show and time that best suits and accommodates your school’s needs.
Seats can be limited, so please book early to ensure that you and your students don’t miss out. Confirmation of final numbers and full payment are not required until a month prior to the performance date.
