Waste Education

Gosford City Council’s waste contractor Remondis, in conjunction with Gosford and Wyong councils, runs the 1Coast 1World, Don’t Waste It! Education Program. This program aims to help Central Coast residents understand their waste & recycling service so we can reduce waste going to landfill and recycle as much as possible!

Waste and Recycling Tours

Gosford Council and Remondis offer guided bus tours throughout the year of your local waste management facilities.  These tours are a great way to learn about how our local landfills work, how your green waste is processed and how recycled materials are sorted and what happens with the recovered materials.

Tours planned for this year are for:

  •  Wednesday 5th June 2013- World Environment Day
  •  Tuesday 12th November 2013 - National Recycling Week

Bookings for these tours are essential and places are limited. More information will be posted on the
1Coast website and in the Central Coast Advocate Express, closer to the date.

The Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) at Somersby will also hold an open day on

  • Saturday 16th November 2013.

More information please see Upcoming Events or visit the 1Coast website if you wish to book a school or community group tour.

Compost & Wormfarm Workshops

In 2012/13 Gosford Council will be running a series of workshops to help Gosford residents to learn how to deal with food waste through composting or wormfarming. Further information on these workshops will be posted soon.
