Discoloured Water

Discoloured water is a change in the appearance or colour of the water supply. Sometimes, it can take on a yellow or reddish/brown tint to almost black, other times it can appear milky white or blue.
Discoloured water is common during summer and in periods of high demand. It is also commonly experienced in suburbs at the furthest end of the water supply system.
The ongoing drought has, in part, been a cause of the increased incidence of discoloured water in the Gosford local government area (LGA).
Gosford City Council is dedicated to reducing discoloured water throughout the region and has developed an integrated program called Water Quality 2010 to reduce these events and the effects they have on the community.
To help us understand and addess discoloured water issues, the Water Quality 2010 team is undertaking a Discoloured Water Investigation. Find out more about the Water Quality 2010 Discoloured Water Investigation and how you can be involved.
