Project Timeline
Over the final 12 months of the program, Water Quality 2010 will continue reducing the incidence of discoloured water by completing major works in the water distribution system.
Capital Works
- Complete construction of new water treatment facilities
- Continue construction of mains cleaning facilities
- Continue replacement of unlined fittings
- Install monitoring equipment throughout the system
- Undertake further upgrades to reservoirs
- Investigate further enhancements to water treatment processes
Maintenance Activities
- Clean trunk mains from Somersby to Springfield, and Koolewong to Woy Woy
- Continue maintenance flushing across the region
Management and Operation
- Review and document system operational procedures
- Complete implementation of the Framework for Management of Drinking Water Quality
- Develop a strategy to address excess system storage in reservoirs
Monitoring and Analysis
- Continue to monitor water quality and the effectiveness of Water Quality 2010 activities
Communications
- Trial an improved after-hours customer service facility
- Restructure Water Quality 2010 webpage to provide additional information to stakeholders
- Continue to update stakeholders on Water Quality 2010
