Major wastewater projects

Each year Gosford City Council invests millions of dollars on major projects to provide and improve essential wastewater services for our customers.

These major projects are a key part of Council's commitment to:

  • Protect our community, waterways and environment against wastewater overflows
  • Boost the capacity of our wastewater treatment plants and networks to meet the region's population demands

Project/Program Description Current Status

Mooney Mooney Cheero Point Sewerage Scheme

A $15M Priority Sewerage Project (PSP) to provide the area with improved sewerage services. It will reduce existing public health risks for the community and minimise adverse environmental impacts on local waterways and residential properties.

Coastal Carrier System Upgrade

A $30M upgrade to improve the performance and capacity of the major wastewater transfer system servicing Forresters Beach, Wamberal, Terrigal, North Avoca, Avoca and Kincumber.

Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrades

A $40M project to upgrade Council's two Wastewater Treatment Plants located at Kincumber and Woy Woy.
  • Construction started
Cockle Bay Towns Sewerage Project Council is delivering improved sewerage services to identified properties in Empire Bay, Bensville and Kincumber South.
  • Investigating whether 'larger' properties in the service area need an alternative sewer strategy
  • On-going liaison with the State Government about extent of project funding
Sewage Pump Station Upgrade Program The program - which currently sees between $5-7 million spent each year - improves the reliability, capacity and performance of the region's pump stations.
