Sewage Pump Station Upgrade Program
Council is delivering an extensive Sewage Pump Station Upgrade Program as part of its commitment to protect public health and the environment by improving the reliability, capacity and performance of the region's sewer network.
Currently, between $5-7 million is spent each year to make sure our pump stations continue operating to a standard that:
- protects the community and environment against overflows and odours
- complies with our environment protection licence issued by the NSW Environmental Protection Authority
- doesn't pose a safety risk to our staff or the community
Condition assessments have been carried out at all Council's pump stations (over 180) to identify those needing high-priority upgrades.
Since 2009, upgrade, refurbishment or replacement works at over 40 pump stations have been completed - including those in Avoca, Bensville, Booker Bay, Copacabana, East Gosford, Daleys Point, Ettalong, Gosford, Kincumber, Narara, North Gosford, Pretty Beach, Saratoga, Somersby, Terrigal, Umina, Wamberal, West Gosford and Woy Woy.
Works are either underway or planned in a number of other areas - including Avoca, Bensville, Copacabana, Erina, Ettalong, Forresters Beach, Gosford, Green Point, Hardys Bay, Kariong, Macmasters Beach, North Avoca, Point Clare, Tascott, Woy Woy, Woy Woy Bay and Yattalunga.
